L.M. Teams support L.M. Alum in first Division 1 game.

Sept 3rd. Saint Josephs University.
Tonight members from the Lower Merion Soccer boys varsity and junior varsity team traveled to near by Saint
Josephs University to support one of their own. A 2009 graduate from Lower Merion, Jonny Dolezal, attending and
playing for the University of Pennsylvania.
Even though he was not expecting to see any time in this game, which was Penn's first game of the season, the
teams went to support their fellow "Ace". It was not until the 2nd half, with about 12 minutes left to play, when Penn's
central defender after having won the ball inside Penn's 18 went down hard and injured his shoulder. Rudy Fuller,
Penn's coach turned to a ready Dolezal on the bench and gave Jonny the go ahead.
Jonny had a quick warm up and he took the field for his first minutes in his collegiate career. To some, this may just
seem like another player, playing in another game. For those that know Jonny, it was anything BUT that. During his
time at Lower Merion, Jonny was a constant force to be reckoned with on the field, and a solid leader. This did not
come without hours and hours of practice and hard work that he put in on the off seasons.
While preparing for Penn's pre-season, you could always find Jonny at the field or on the track running,
training...chasing his dream. More importantly, when ever other LM players were at the field, he was always willing
to help them and train with them.
During the Penn pre-season, Dolezal suffered a knee injury that had him and many at LM worried if he would play
this season at Penn. He was sidelined for a week, and had to take it easy for much of the pre-season. But like
always, he pushed through and made his way back.
Jonny is the epitome of what Lower Merion soccer is, as well as many others that are now in college. He leaves it all
on the field, after every game, after every practice, he knows he put in 100% effort to make himself and his team
better.
Like Jonny, another '09 Alum, Max Tassano saw his first collegiate time playing for Carnegie Mellon. In Mellon's first
game, Max saw significant time got 4 shots off, and scored one for the teams season opener victory.
