Lower Merion Socccer announces new
boys varsity soccer Head Coach:
Mr. Nicholas Severini

Lower Merion High School has announced the hiring of their new boys varsity soccer head coach Mr.
Nicholas Severini. Nicholas comes to the L.M. Soccer program with many years of soccer experience.
Most recently he has successfully coached the varsity boys program at Plymouth Whitemarsh, and
also is an EPYSA ODP staff coach, and works in the Lower Merion Soccer Club coaching the girls
U14 Charge. Severini holds a USSF National license and has attended AFA coaching clinics and
seminars in Argentina.

Before beginning his collegiate career Nicholas played for FC Delco and at Haverford High School
where he earned Central League Player of the Year, All-State, and Regional All-American Honors.  
Nicholas played four years of varsity soccer at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned an
Ivy League championship in 2002.  Nicholas has trained with several clubs overseas, including
Independiente (Argentina), Liniers (Argentina) and Sevilla (Spain).

Coach Severini is looking forward to leading the boys soccer program at Lower Merion. "I expect the
players to play as a confident team, showing total dedication both on the field and the classroom, so
they can continue achieving success" said Severini. "I am looking forward to the challenge of
coaching such a well-know and respected Central League program.”

Nicholas is currently a Spanish teacher at Lower Merion.  Severini graduated from Haverford High
School, where he played for his father Jorge Severini (a former professional player) who continues to
coach at Haverford, and has been instrumental in mentoring Nicholas as both a player and coach.
